The problem the case study covers

Matching people to the right job only means something if the job itself is real. A matching engine built on stale or duplicate listings will confidently send someone to a role that was filled weeks ago, and no amount of smart matching fixes that. The case study frames this as the core challenge HiringSky had to solve: get broad, current coverage of live openings without building and maintaining job-aggregation infrastructure from scratch.

How we solved it

HiringSky uses OpenWeb Ninja's JSearch API as the live job listings layer behind our matching engine. JSearch pulls postings from Google for Jobs, which covers the major job boards, applicant tracking systems, and company career pages in one place, and returns real-time results with no caching. That means when someone opens HiringSky, the roles surfaced are pulled fresh, not served from a database that hasn't been checked in weeks.

Why this matters for job seekers

This is infrastructure most job seekers never see, and that's the point. It's not a feature you'd notice when it's working. You'd only notice its absence: applying into silence, discovering a listing was filled a month ago, wondering if the problem is you. It usually isn't. It's the data underneath.

Being featured in this case study is a nice outside confirmation of something we've believed since day one: the unglamorous plumbing matters as much as the matching itself. You can't build a good job-matching product on top of bad job data.
